I recently watched the FMA anime and movie and the people who recommended it(FMA) to me keep saying I should watch FMAB. You should watch FMAB. The events in the beginning will be the mostly the same as in FMA (2003), but it will eventually diverge into a different story, with a different main antagonist, and a different ending.No, they are 2 completely different stories. FMA is essentially an official AU fanfiction, while FMAB is an accurate adaptation of the manga. It does not matter what order you watch them in, but FMAB is better. I recommend starting with Brotherhood.If you are half familiar with the series I'd say no, unless you plan to watch both, in which case watch FMA before B. If you are unfamiliar with it, and don't plan on watching FMA, watching the first few episodes of FMA is considered a better intro to the series than B, which is made somewhat on the assumption you've seen FMA around.If anything, watch the first half of FMA (through episode 26), which were made with the manga until they ran out of written material, then, start brotherhood from the beginning to catch the slight differences (Brotherhood catches up to that point in only a few episodes).
